On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the annual Business Day Luncheon, where he gave an update on The Bronx’s economic development and business growth as part of Bronx Week 2021. The event was hosted in conjunction with the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (BOEDC).
At the event Borough President Diaz and Marlene Cintron, President of BOEDC, honored successful Bronx business people who have contributed to the economic growth of the borough, and have also continued to give back throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The business leaders honored this year include:
Samuel Thiam and Leha Thiam of Bottle Bronx; Bronx Kreate Space’s Dan Herdoon; Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc.’s Michael T. Muzyk; Kevin Alicea, Ruben Rodriguez, and Troy Perez of Havana Café; Steve A. Toledo and Renzo V. Pereda of Bronx Barx; P.H. Custom Woodworking Corp. ‘s Dan Sperling; Food Bazaar Supermarket’s Spencer An; SOMOS Community Care’s Dr. Ramon Tallaj; CEC Elevator Cab Corp./Sterilyft’s Carlos Vanga, Jr.; Ponce Bank’s Carlos P. Naudon, and Anheuser Busch’s César Vargas.
“Our local businesses are a major part of what makes our borough great,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “Like the rest of our borough, our businesses have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but despite that they have continued to give back and invest in our borough. I am proud we were able to honor them this year, and I thank them for their partnerships over the years.”
