This is a special week to enjoy the flavors of the Bronx and some of the finest cuisine the Bronx has to offer, as the Bronx Tourism Council and Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (BOEDC) team up with local restaurants to continue the 7thAnnual “Savor the Bronx” Restaurant Week. A BronxNet ‘Savor the Bronx’ special program is bringing it all to you on your BronxNet channels. The Savor the Bronx special, along with segments on our OPEN program feature highlights from the launch event, as well as fun, in-depth profiles of great Bronx restaurants.
“’Savor The Bronx’ is one my favorite events because it gives us the chance to show off all the amazing food culture that exists in our great borough,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “I could not think of a better partner to help promote ‘Savor The Bronx’ than our very own BronxNet, who does an excellent job of keeping our residents informed about what’s going on in our borough. I hope our Bronx foodies keep an eye out for BronxNet’s special programming throughout the 12-days of ‘Savor The Bronx,’ which highlights the epicurean delights out great borough has to offer.”
The special will be broadcast on BronxNet, Channel 67-Optimum and 33-Fios on Sunday 11/5 at 5:00pm and 11:30pm, Monday 11/6 at 8:00am and 4:30pm, Wednesday 11/8 at 4:30am and 4:30pm, Thursday 11/9 at 4:00am, 4:00pm and 8:30pm, Friday 11/10 at 4:30am, 1:30pm and 8:00pm, and Saturday 11/11 at 3:30am, 4:30pm and 9:00pm.
Besides showcasing delectable delights, the stories in the special BronxNet program take viewers behind the scenes to learn about the inner workings and history of the restaurants and the people that make it all happen. From longstanding, authentic Italian restaurants like Emilia’s, Latin favorites like Havana Café, and newcomers like the Asian fusion spot Ceetay, viewers will find out how these and other eateries tie to Bronx communities, culture and daily life. The stories not only cover restaurants but also food-related establishments such as Randazzo’s, a 100-year old seafood provider, Teitel Brothers, a 100-year old specialty food provider, and Casa de Mozzarella where people come from all over for fresh made mozzarella, cold cuts and other deli fare.
