“Today, we remember the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s shocking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, reversing years of progress that had been made in the fight for reproductive justice in our nation. Since Roe was overturned, I have been proud to stand with my colleagues in government across New York State in safeguarding access to reproductive care for women in and out of our state seeking abortion care.
I want to thank Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Leticia James, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Speaker Adrienne Adams, and pro-choice activists and advocates vowing to continue the fight to protect women and their right to reproductive care and bodily autonomy. We know unfortunately this fight is far from over, but we will continue to advocate for the federal government to take action to ensure abortion care remains safe and accessible for patients not just in New York, but across our nation.”
