“Earlier today, in our Allerton community, we learned of a horrific 5-alarm residential fire that occurred in a six-story, 98-unit apartment building. We are so thankful there were no fatalities, but several civilians are facing minor injuries and are hospitalized as a result. Over 200 of our first responders were on the scene to extinguish this fire, and many remain on scene. We are grateful for our FDNY firefighters, NYPD officers, NYC Emergency Management, EMTs, and paramedics, who all swiftly responded this morning.”

“The American Red Cross is on the scene with our school officials at PS76, which has been made available to families as a Reception Center. Clients are being registered and will be provided with housing accommodations at area hotels. While an investigation is underway into the cause of this fire, our hearts and thoughts remain with everyone impacted, and we will continue to work together to support our residents.”

“Our colleagues in government are working closely with city officials on the next steps to support our residents and families. We will provide additional information and updates as they become available.”
