Bronx, NY – (TODAY) On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson partnered with Montefiore Einstein, and other sponsors to host the Bronx DiVA Spa in the Rotunda of Bronx Borough Hall located at 851 Grand Concourse. The event, held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., is designed to bring resources and information about domestic violence safely and discreetly to Bronx residents.

Participants of the DiVA Spa enjoyed free makeovers, manicures, facials, massages, hair treatments, and additional services while also receiving potentially life-saving information. The sponsors this year include Montefiore Medical Center, Safe Horizons, The New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, NYC Health + Hospitals, and other partners. DiVa Spa is also included in the “31 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence” campaign as one of several events scheduled in the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“We are providing a day of pampering for the clients who have gathered here today at Bronx Borough Hall for our DiVA Spa event,” said Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson. “During this critical moment in their lives, we want to make sure they know that they are not alone. We have organizations here providing valuable information and New York State licensed beauty professionals donating their time to make this day a success. I want to thank Maureen Curtis, Vice-President of Criminal Justice Programs at Safe Horizons; Melissa Cebollero, Associate Vice-President of Community Affairs at Montefiore Einstein; Charito Cisneros, President and founder of the New York Hispanic Cosmetology & Beauty Chamber of Commerce; and so many others here supporting our survivors.”

“We applaud Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson for her ‘31 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence’ campaign,” said Melissa Cebollero, Associate Vice President, of Community Affairs, Montefiore Einstein. “DiVa Spa and its mission to support and empower Bronx residents strongly aligns with Montefiore Einstein’s commitment to addressing the conditions that people in our community are born into, work, and live in, which are widely recognized to have a significant impact on a person’s health. We are proud to work with the Bronx Borough President’s Office to ensure community members have access to the life-saving resources being made available by her office.”

“We at Safe Horizon applaud Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson for sponsoring the DiVA Spa event today to raise awareness about domestic violence and its devastating impact on Bronx families and the community,” said Maureen Curtis, Vice-President of Criminal Justice Programs at Safe Horizons. “As a proud member of the Bronx DiVA Committee and the largest victim services agency in the country, Safe Horizon understands all too well the importance of ensuring survivors know they are not alone, and that help is available.
