NEW LOCATIONS THIS YEAR HIGHLIGHT OUR BRONX PARKS AND OPEN SPACES

ORCHARD BEACH PAVILION CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS

Bronx, NY - On Sunday, July 9, 2023, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson kicked off the annual Bronx Summer Concert Series that takes place every summer. This year, the event will take place every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at various NYC Parks and open spaces in the Bronx while the Orchard Beach Pavilion undergoes a $100M renovation. The iconic Bronx music celebration will run from July 9th through September 3rd.

With the sounds of live salsa, bachata, freestyle and more heard along the promenade that borders the beach and Long Island Sound, the event continues to attract more and more fans who can celebrate artists like Luis Damon, Luisito Ray Y La Dynamica, Charlie Cruz, DNX4 and others.

“The Bronx Summer Concert Series has long been a staple for our Bronx community,” said Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson. “Traditionally held at our Bronx Riviera, we are excited to announce that this year we are moving the concert series to parks across the borough so even more of our residents and families can partake in an afternoon of live music and entertainment without having to leave their neighborhood. I want to thank the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation for their partnership as well as Uber, Bronx Care Health System, Ponce Bank, Con Edison, Empire State Casino, the Bronx Tourism Council, BXEDC and so many others, who are demonstrating their commitment to making the Bronx a tourism destination.”

“Ponce Bank was born in the Bronx in 1960 and we’re proud once again to sponsor our favorite event of the year, the Bronx Summer Concert Series,” said Damaris Bergas-Misarti, Assistant Vice-President Community Affairs, Ponce Bank. “We strive to bring joy to banking and we love spreading that joy with our community through music, dance, and this annual celebration of our unique island-inspired and Bronx-bred culture!

“The Bronx has been, and will continue to be, an integral part of the regional family Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts proudly serves and supports, given that we are less than two miles from the Bronx border,” said Taryn Duffy, Vice-President of Public Affairs for Empire City Casino. “Over a third of our employees are Bronx residents and we are the entertainment destination of choice for many Bronxites so it is a natural fit for Empire City to continue to support the Bronx free Summer Concert Series.”

The Bronx Concert Series will continue this Sunday, July 16th at Soundview Park off Morrison & Lafayette Avenues, then at Crotona Park on July 23rd and Van Cortlandt Park on July 30th. On August 6th, the Bronx Summer Concert Series will be at Bronx Park East off Lydig Avenue and at St. Mary’s Park on August 13th. On August 20th, it’s back for a 2nd time at Crotona Park followed by Ferry Point Park on August 27th. The Grand Finale will be held on September 3rd in Co-Op City’s Section 5.
