“Yesterday’s vote by the Rent Guidelines Board to authorize rent increases will undoubtedly have devastating consequences for many of our residents and families who are already rent-burdened and struggling to stay afloat. Our administration remains adamantly opposed to these rent hikes and any proposal that would cause undue hardship to our tenants. This decision by the Board emphasizes the urgency for us to expand building new and truly affordable permanent housing to remove hurdles for clients to access rental subsidies, and for us to ensure Right to Counsel is fully funded so our residents can receive the necessary support to remain in their homes without the fear of homelessness or eviction.”
