“Our hearts are heavy, and our heads are bowed for our brothers and sisters in Buffalo. Saturday’s mass shooting at a local supermarket has devastated this community and our entire nation. We are saddened by this horrible act of racism and violence perpetrated against a local community of innocent residents grocery shopping on a Saturday afternoon. This tragedy is yet another painful reminder of the cycle of gun violence in this country, the easy access to assault weapons and the urgent need for gun control. We are truly living in challenging times and this tragedy must be a call to action and attention. Innocent residents should be able to grocery shop at their local supermarket without being senselessly killed by white supremacists.
We are outraged and we are standing in solidarity with Buffalo offering our love and prayers of comfort, healing and strength to the families and friends of those we have lost. Enough is enough! This was an act of hatred, terror, and pure evilness.”
