“It has been almost 50 years since the historic Roe v. Wade ruling that guaranteed reproductive rights and protections for women, and birthing individuals in our country. Advocates were on the frontlines pushing for reproductive justice and for women to have the right to make decisions about their body, but conservative legislators are pushing an anti-choice agenda that could remove that choice for many women.

If the Supreme Court were to overturn Roe v. Wade, many women would lose abortion access despite the overwhelming majority of Americans that support reproductive justice. In a year in which we have seen many women shatter glass ceilings and take on traditionally male leadership positions, it is unacceptable for this to happen, and it is up to all of us to rally together to ensure all birthing individuals in New York City, New York State and across the country have access to this critical life-saving care.

Let this anniversary of Roe v. Wade serve as a reminder to all of us that there is still much more work to be done and that the fight for reproductive health care is not over.”
