On Friday, May 14, 2021, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Business Initiative Corporation of New York co-hosted the 22nd Annual Bronx Bankers Breakfast at the New York Botanical Gardens.
Dr. Philip O. Ozuah, President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine, served as this year’s keynote speaker. Dr. Ozuah announced Montefiore’s plan to help serve as a major catalyst for economic recovery in The Bronx.
“The annual Bronx Bankers Breakfast is always a wonderful opportunity for the finance community to come together, and as we work to move forward from the devastation The Bronx faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, events like this are an important step towards rebuilding the robust economy we saw in prior years,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “I am especially grateful that Dr. Ozuah joined us this morning to outline Montefiore’s vision towards helping our borough recover. Montefiore has always been a great friend to The Bronx and I thank them for their ongoing commitment to our borough in the best and worst of times.”
“Thank you to our esteemed, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Business Initiative Corporation of NY for the honor to keynote the 22nd Annual Bankers Breakfast at the NY Botanical Garden,” said Dr. Philip Ozuah, President & CEO of Montefiore Medicine. “Together, as we heal from COVID-19 and define our path forward, we are announcing the launch of a Community Enrichment Blueprint. Focusing on a health and wealth plan, this blueprint will strengthen our mission-driven work, medical research and care, and fortify our role as an economic engine investing in our local businesses. We look forward to building this plan out over the coming months and partnering with fellow Bronx institutions on this important endeavor.”
“Each year, the Business Initiative Corporation of New York looks forward to organizing this signature event. I want to thank Borough President Diaz for his partnership over the years and Dr. Ozuah for spending time with the Bronx finance community this morning to discuss the opportunities and challenges they face,” said Rafael Roger, Executive Director of the Business Initiative Corporation of New York.
