On Thursday, May 23, 2019, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the borough’s annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner, in partnership with the borough’s Muslim community.
The event took place in the Veterans’ Memorial Hall of The Bronx County Building.
This year’s honorees were Alhassan Susso, 2019 New York State Teacher of the Year; Saadatu Mamah-Trawill, community activist and leader of African Communities Together (ACT); and Yahay Obeid, member of Bronx Community Board #11.
The event was co-sponsored by United Health Care Management and the Council of Peoples Organizations.
“The holy month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection and piety and it is with deep solidarity and respect that we host this event to break the fast with the Muslim community in The Bronx,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
