“Today, we remember those we lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
“These were our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers, our family. Some of the victims we never met, some of them were close to our hearts. All of us, together, understand the pain of the moment of 9/11 and the years it has taken for our city, and our nation, to try to heal.
“Please take a moment today to remember those we lost and to reflect on the meaning of this day.
“My office’s annual ‘Day of Remembrance’ of 9/11 will take place this Friday. Each year, we come together to remember those we lost on 9/11 and to share with one another the feelings and emotions that are brought to the surface during this commemoration. All are welcome,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
