On Thursday, June 21, 2018, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted his annual host his annual Caribbean Heritage Celebration at the R & J Banquet Hall. The event recognized the vibrant history and culture of the Caribbean and Caribbean-American community and their contributions to the civic and cultural landscape of The Bronx and New York City.

This year’s honorees were New York State Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte of Brooklyn and Secretary/Treasurer of TWU Local 100 Earl Phillips. Dr. Barbara “Roxie” De Laleu of 95.5 PLJ served as the event’s emcee.

“Our Caribbean friends and neighbors help make New York City an amazing place, and I am honored each year to host this wonderful celebration of the Caribbean and Caribbean-American diaspora and everything this community contributes to the ongoing success of our borough and our city,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
