Foodies rejoice! Starting June 30th and every last Saturday of the month through October, the BX will host a Night Market with more than 40 food vendors that represent the city’s diverse culinary offerings. The monthly, FREE, open-air festival also features dozens of local artisans and merchants, and of course, the local soundtrack and stands to be the biggest of its kind in the boogie down. The market is a collaboration between quarterly magazine Edible Bronx and Bronx-based creative agency BLOX with the support of Fordham BID.
“I hope that foodies from across the region will visit The Bronx for the first ever ‘Bronx Night Market.’ My borough has some of the best food cultures in the world., and this event will give epicureans a chance to sample the flavors of The Bronx and all five boroughs while enjoying music, art, and each others’ company. I look forward to the Bronx Night Market, and encourage Bronxites and visitors alike to join us at this exciting new event,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
“Queens has the International Night Market, Brooklyn has Smorgasburg, It has been our ongoing mission to make sure that the residents of our borough feel represented in all cultural aspects, and that greater NY recognizes the kind of Bronx we know exists,” said the festival organizers.
“We are excited to support The Bronx Night Market,” says Olga Luz Tirado, executive director of The Bronx Tourism Council. “Food is such a major component of any community, and I know this series of events will attract a culinary audience to our great borough,” said Olga Luz Tirado, Executive Director of The Bronx Tourism Council.
Wilma: “Proud to be a part of the evolution of the Bronx! Bringing the first ever Bronx Night Market to Fordham Plaza attests to the ongoing commitment of the Fordham Road BID to continue raising the bar of expectations and to offer innovative activities and experiences that our Bronx residents and businesses deserve. Special Thanks to Edible Bronx for believing in our vision and making this dream a reality!” said Wilma Alonso. Executive Director, Fordham Road Business Improvement District.
