“The New York City Department of Finance’s tax lien sale scheduled for this Friday must be postponed. Dozens of non-profit organizations in my borough, including many houses of worship, have been caught in this tax lien sale. Many of these organizations are considered tax-exempt, and they are simply asking for more time to get their paperwork in order.
“The sale of a tax lien on a non-profit organization’s property has the potential to imperil that organization’s existence, and the city must do everything in its power to protect those organizations that may have become part of this sale erroneously. Once again, I urge the administration to postpone Friday’s tax lien sale,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
