    RE: Ghana President John Atta Mills’ Passing

    “I join the Bronx African community in recognizing the passing of the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Atta Mills. President Mills was an influential figure in the West African nation, and his loss is greatly felt here in the Bronx, where Ghanaians make up the largest segment of our growing African population. Under his leadership, Ghana joined the ranks of the world’s large-scale oil producers and continued to lead Africa in economic growth. I would like to extend my most heartfelt condolences to Mr. Mills’ family, to the Republic of Ghana, and to the 15,000 hard working Ghanaians who live in the Bronx,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
