RE: City Council Override of the ‘Fair Wages for New Yorkers’ Act

“I would like to thank the City Council and Speaker Christine Quinn for their override of the mayor’s veto of the ‘Fair Wages for New Yorkers’ Act. This important and incredibly popular legislation will change the way our City uses its tax dollars for development, ensuring that developers who use heavy taxpayer funding to make their projects work, do right by their employees.

“I am proud to have helped lead the fight on this legislation. This bill is the strongest ‘living wage’ law in the United States, and is a major step towards a more just economy in our City, by giving our residents a chance to provide a better way of life for their families,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
