  • Bronx Borough President Diaz and Bronx Dominican Parade Announce Dominican Pride Events

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and Parade Committee Directors Felipe Febles and Rosa Ayala announced today the “Dominican Pride” events leading up to the celebration of the 21st Annual Gran Parada Dominicana de El Bronx (Bronx Dominican Day Parade).

This year’s celebration will feature weekend concerts, conferences, the annual Gala Banquet, el Abrazo Dominicano, and other events starting on Friday, July 16, culminating with the parade on Sunday, July 25. Over 2,000 marchers including folkloric groups, artists, marching bands, elected officials and a variety of cultural groups will take part in the parade, which starts at 12:00 pm along the Grand Concourse, between 161st Street and 184th Street.

“The Dominican Pride celebration in The Bronx, which ends with the traditional parade, provides a wonderful display of cultural traditions and recognizes the achievements and contributions of the Dominican community to our borough and to New York City,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “I want to invite all Bronxites and New Yorkers alike to join me on July 25th to celebrate the beauty and culture of this important community.”

In addition, the parade will recognize the achievements of Dominican-American students from different colleges in the city, a scholarship program created to encourage students to stay in school. Hundreds of students have benefited from the program thanks to the sponsorship of private organizations.
