Statement from Borough President Diaz re: Lockout by the Riverbay Corporation of workers in Co-op City
“The Riverbay Corporation must back away from their hard line with Co-op City’s workers and return to the negotiating table. Freezing wages, refusing to extend the negotiating deadline and locking out employees is not the way we do business in the Bronx. These actions have not only placed the livelihoods of the 500 workers in Co-op City in jeopardy but have also greatly reduced the quality of life of the more than 50,000 residents of Co-op City. It is time for the Riverbay Corporation to come back to the table and deal with the workers of Co-op City, for both the good of those employees and their families and the continued well-being of its residents,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
