“I am troubled by the findings of the 2010 County Health Rankings report released yesterday where the county of the Bronx ranked last of 62 counties in New York state on both overall Health Outcomes and Health Factors, specifically on Social and Economic Factors including measures of education, employment, income, family and social support, and community safety. This is unacceptable.
“As the county executive of the Bronx, with limited jurisdiction, an increasingly smaller operational budget, and shrinking resources, I have focused my administration on public awareness, education and advocacy. In my short tenure, my office has already hosted blood pressure screenings, diabetes screenings, domestic violence risk and safety assessment, teen dating violence awareness, HIV/AIDS awareness and flu immunization events. It is my priority to make my constituents as aware and well informed as possible of risk factors, symptoms and most importantly resources available to them in this county,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
