Bronx Borough President Hosted the Annual September 11th Memorial Service

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., along with community leaders and residents of the borough, hosted a memorial service to commemorate the lives and sacrifices of those lost on September 11th during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

“We can’t forget that 143 of those individuals who lost their lives during September 11th were people who either lived or worked right here in our great borough of The Bronx. They were people who served us, who worked for us, who protected us. They were our friends, our family, our neighbors,” said Borough President Diaz.

The memorial service took place on the steps of the Bronx County Courthouse with the participation of family members of the victims, the New York Fire Department and the New York Police Department, in addition to other government agencies and community groups.An interpretive dance performance by the Uptown Dance Company accompanied soloist and song writer Hank Fellows, a Riverdale resident, who after September 11th, 2001, wrote a song in memory of the New Yorkers lost on that day.
