The office of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., working in partnership with stakeholders including Community Board #7, the Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance and local elected officials, has completed an initial community benefits agreement regarding the proposed retail development Kingsbridge Armory and has delivered that document to the project’s developer, the Related Companies. Borough President Diaz hopes to begin negotiating the points of this document with the Related Companies shortly.
While Borough President Diaz and his office will not discuss specific details of this community benefits agreement, we feel that the concerns and differing points that had divided the aforementioned stakeholders have been reconciled, and that all parties are moving forward into negotiations with the developer in one united voice.
The office is willing to state that Borough President Diaz does not support the inclusion of a grocery store or supermarket within the development, and has included that condition in the community benefits agreement that was delivered to the developer.
