Statement from Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., on the Budget Deal Saving City Island’s Ladder 53

“City Island, and in fact the entire Bronx, rose up to save Ladder 53 from closure, and I am grateful that the City saw the error of its ways and restored funding in the budget for this critical service. A potential disaster has been averted. I would like to thank City Councilman James Vacca, as well as the entire City Island community, for leading the fight to save Ladder 53,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.
