Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. released the following statement regarding the announcement that Bill Aguado would step down as executive director of the Bronx Council on the Arts. Aguado served with the organization for 30 years, and as its executive director since 1981.
“The arts community of The Bronx has seen tremendous growth over the past 30 years, and Bill Aguado has been the steward of that growth. When he began his work with the BCA, much of the world held a highly negative perception of The Bronx. Bill played a major role in changing that image, and we will miss his contributions to the cultural life of our borough. Bill will always be a great friend of mine and of the entire Bronx, and I wish him well in his future endeavors.”
