“Bronx Senior Month is a great way to honor seniors for their contributions to our rich history. Our senior citizens are the backbone of this community and I couldn’t be prouder to partner with WellCare to salute them throughout the month of September,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
“It was a pleasure for me to partner with WellCare to kick off the celebration for senior month at Bay-Eden Center. All the seniors gathered to enjoy a spa day with manicures, massages, Zumba, Salsa dancing and a fellowship lunch,” said Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson.
“These events are a great way for us to show seniors the respect and admiration they deserve,” said Assemblyman Marcos Crespo. “They are designed to make them aware of available health resources, to help them meet others from the community and to provide everyone with some fun.”
“I am pleased to partner with WellCare in this event to honor seniors in my district,” said Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj. “With social service funding becoming more limited, we need companies like WellCare to invest in the long-term health of this community.”
“WellCare’s mission is to serve those who need assistance the most including seniors, low-income children and families, and the blind and disabled,” said John Burke, president, WellCare of New York. “We encourage Bronx-area families, neighbors and friends to tell the seniors in their lives about this opportunity to receive free health screenings and information, as well as to enjoy some time with other seniors.”
As of June 30, 2014, WellCare serves approximately 102,000 Medicaid plan members, 51,000 Medicare Advantage plan members, 56,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members and 6,000 Managed Long Term Care members in New York.
