Celebrate Independence Day at Orchard Beach
Annual ‘New York Celebrates America’ Event to Feature Music, Food and Fireworks!
On Friday, June 29, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and State Senator Jeff Klein will host the borough’s annual Independence Day celebration, “New York Celebrates America,” at Orchard Beach. The event will begin at 6 p.m., with fireworks planned for after sundown.
The boardwalk festival includes fun activities for the kids, such as face painting, magicians, balloon artists, Zumba and much more, as well as a music performance by Alive’n Kickin’.
The annual event draws thousands of Bronxites to the beach, and is produced by the Bronx Tourism Council under the auspices of the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.
This year’s event sponsors include Affinity Health Plan, Bronx Tax Man, Cablevision, Con Edison, Crown Monuments, DJ Ambulette, G.A.L. Manufacturing Corp, Hudson Valley Bank, Manhattan Beer, PASCAP, Pepsi, Sabrett, Sanitation Salvage, Schuyler Hill Funeral, Snapple, Triangle Equities, Verizon, and Wellcare.
"This great event at Orchard Beach has become a Bronx tradition and, as in years past, Friday promises to be as exciting and entertaining for our families and kids. I always look forward to our boardwalk festival and fireworks extravaganza because it’s an opportunity for Bronxites to bond and for residents from across the City to experience our borough. You always have a blast right here in the Bronx," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
"I’m thrilled to be co-hosting the New York Salutes America Firework Extravaganza once again. The fireworks are not only an annual rite of summer in our community, but they mark the official launch of beach season here in New York. I hope to see many Bronxites there as we celebrate the birth of our nation, the greatest democracy in the world,” said State Senator Jeff Klein.
