Established on January 13, 2010, the African Advisory Council (AAC) works with the Bronx African community to address emerging issues and provide recommendations to the Borough President and other stakeholders on strategies to improve the quality of life for the growing African population.

Aligned with its mission, the AAC engages the African community to actively participate in the economic, social, and cultural development of the borough. Serving as a resource for continental Africans and people of African descent, the Council cultivates relationships and enhances communication and interaction between the borough’s African community and the broader Bronx and New York City stakeholders.
