Bronx, NY – February 19, 2025 – Today, Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson joined the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) to announce Future Forward Bronx, a new collaborative initiative to expand employment opportunities for Bronx residents. This initiative will feature a series of job fairs at Bronx Borough Hall, designed to connect job seekers—particularly those historically excluded from the traditional job market—with meaningful employment opportunities and long-term career pathways.
“Our Future Forward Bronx initiative is a crucial step toward ensuring that Bronx residents have access to good-paying jobs and sustainable career paths,” said Borough President Gibson. “We know that many of our community members face significant barriers to employment, and by bringing employers directly to Borough Hall, we’re providing them with a chance to meet face-to-face with prospective employers and explore future career opportunities.”
This announcement follows the success of previous job fairs hosted in partnership with the Borough President’s office and NYS DOL, which saw an overwhelming turnout of over 700 jobseekers. Additionally, earlier this year, Borough President Gibson, NYSDOL, and Krispy Kreme worked together to host recruitment events that helped fill numerous positions at their local locations.
As part of today’s announcement, the Borough President and NYSDOL also hosted an Employment Fair at Bronx Borough Hall from 10 AM to 2 PM, focusing on recruitment for the healthcare industry. Over 20 employers in the healthcare sector were on-site, connecting with residents interested in entering or advancing in this vital industry. Attendees had the opportunity to explore a range of job openings and career advancement prospects in one of the borough’s most essential sectors.
“Supporting our residents in their career journey is essential to the growth and prosperity of the Bronx,” Borough President Gibson continued. “Together with the New York State Department of Labor, we’re creating opportunities and fostering pathways to success that will benefit our community for years to come.”
