“The vicious attack yesterday at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas was an egregious display of hate towards our Jewish community. It is unacceptable that anyone should have to feel unsafe assembling at a place of worship and we must do everything in our power to ensure this does not happen again.

I am grateful to the law enforcement officers on the federal, state and local level for taking immediate action to safely return the members of Congregation Beth Israel synagogue back to their families, and offer prayers of healing and light to the Colleyville community during this difficult time.

It is deeply heartbreaking and troubling that this act of violence occurred in our country, but in the Bronx we are standing strong with our Jewish brothers and sisters against antisemitism, and all other forms of hate.”
