“I am deeply concerned and disgusted by the news that ICE is attempting to deport DACA eligible Bronx resident Javier Castillo Maradiaga on multiple occasions.
“In a borough where more than one-third of its residents were born outside of the United States, this is a slap in the face to all of us. It’s time to protect the hard working immigrants who are an integral part of the fabric of our borough.
“With President Biden in Washington, we must not take a step in the wrong direction and turn back to the hateful and inhumane policies of former President Trump.
“I am calling on the new administration to take charge of the situation and rightfully send Javier home to his family in The Bronx, and create a pathway that welcomes people from all walks of life to our nation and our borough,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
