BRONX, NY – April 23, 2019 – Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) will host a Spring Luncheon to mark the agency’s 45th Anniversary on May 7, 2019. The event, titled “Empowerment 45: People | Opportunity | Progress,” will be held at The Water Club from 12 – 2 p.m. It will honor Me Too Movement Founder, Tarana Burke, Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr., and Chairman & CEO of Deloitte Tax LLP, Steve Kimble.

“Looking back on 45 years, what started as a safe space for kids to cultivate joy and learning by community members, is now a thriving social service organization – cradle to career – of the community, by the community,” KHCC’s Executive Director, Margaret Della, reflected. “KHCC has touched nearly 5,000 lives a year and reopened bridges to education, life beyond trauma, work, and social connection. These lives and the community behind each success are priceless.”

Since its founding in 1974, KHCC has empowered Bronx residents from birth to career-age in an effort to help build stronger, more vibrant communities. The Center, which opened with only Teen and Head Start programming, has become a trusted provider of early childhood programs, free counseling services, college preparatory workshops, English classes, and resources for nutrition education.

“Kingsbridge Heights Community Center is an invaluable resource to Bronxites of all ages,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. “With its wide scope of programming, this organization is a lifeline to so many of our most vulnerable community members. Thank you for giving me the privilege of being one of your honorees at this wonderful event.”

The celebration will highlight KHCC’s impact, achievements, and service to the Bronx over more than four decades as well as future plans for engagement and advocacy throughout New York City.

“Deloitte has been a proud supporter of Kingsbridge Heights Community Center for many years through our Impact Day program,” said Steve Kimble, Chairman & CEO of Deloitte Tax LLP. “The belief that ‘we are only as good as the good we do’ is very much aligned to our culture and values. Our relationship with KHCC helps demonstrate that belief and the impact we strive to make in our communities, and we are proud to celebrate at the upcoming spring luncheon, Empowerment 45: People | Opportunity | Progress.”

Deloitte Tax LLP is a proud sponsor of the event, alongside TJX Companies Inc. For more information on how to become an event sponsor, email William Littleton at wlittleton@khcc-nyc.org. To attend the luncheon, visit the event page.
