On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. took part in the National Young Readers’ Day at P.S. 106 in Parkchester. The borough president read “Miss Brooks Loves Books (And I Don’t),” written by Barbara Bottner and illustrated by Michael Emberley, to the school’s fifth grade class. Since 1989, National Young Readers Week has been an annual event held during the second week of November to raise awareness around the importance of reading.
