At our State of the Borough Address, Borough President Diaz announced the #Not62 Initiative. New York State is comprised of 62 counties. Each year, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin release the County Health Ranking & Roadmaps Report which measures important aspects of population health and the critical role that non-health related factors like education, employment, income and the environment play in how healthy we are and how long we will live. Sadly, Bronx County is ranked in last place or 62 out of 62. In response to this, our office, in partnership with the Bronx Health REACH, the Bronx District Public Health Office, Montefiore Medical Center and the CUNY Institute for Health Equity at Lehman College and others, has launched #Not62. The goal of #Not62 is to bring together major stakeholders across multiple sectors to address the determinants of health, improve the health outcomes of Bronx residents, and have the Bronx move up in the county health ranking in 3-5 years.

#Not62 will utilize a social media campaign as part of its outreach efforts. #Not62 aims to engage the Bronx as a whole and encourage all those who live, work, play, and pray in our borough to share their health related tweets, pics, messages, posts, etc on social media using the hashtag #Not62. Please post your healthy meals, your favorite workout routines, health tips, your favorite restaurant with healthy options. With the right motivation and connection to resources, we CAN get the Bronx out of last place!
