ADOLFO CARRIÓN'S MESSAGE

Dear Neighbor:

It is no secret that the Bronx is experiencing an amazing revitalization. Where it was once a national symbol of urban problems, the Bronx is now a model of grassroots transformation, with media around the country and throughout the world acknowledging our success. With these improvements there’s also been a renewed sense of civic pride. Last year, hundreds of Bronxites participated in cleanups throughout the borough. We need to continue to build on that important momentum..

And you don't have to wait until the spring clean-up. All through the year, volunteers can get trash bags and gloves and borrow shovels and other cleaning equipment provided by the New York City Department of Sanitation. The Borough President’s web site will also list dates and sites of community clean-ups to encourage Bronxites to become active in clean-ups throughout the year. The Campaign will target quality of life issues affecting the Bronx such as:

• Littering
• Illegal Dumping
• Graffiti
• Rodent Infestation

I wholeheartly thank all who have participated in our Team Up to Clean Up the Bronx initiative over the past several years. Together we will continue to make a difference!
