CARRION ANNOUNCES RECONSTRUCTION OF VINMONT VETERAN PARK
Park will be reconstructed beginning this summer

NY- Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr has allocated $550,000 for the repair and reconstruction of Vinemont Veteran Park, the home field of the North Riverdale Baseball League.
The $1.8 million dollar reconstruction of the park will be done in two phases.  Carrion has committed $550,000 from fiscal year 2009 and $350,000 from fiscal year 2010. Councilmember Oliver Koppell will match the funds allocated by Carrion.
“I am delighted to join my colleague Councilmember Oliver Koppell in funding the reconstruction of the field, home to the North Riverdale Little league. Although the full reconstruction will not be completed this year, I insisted that the Parks department make temporary improvements to the playing field for opening day on April 12, said Carrión. “Little Leaguers will no longer have to play on sand and dirt. This year they will have a new clay field.  Our future Posada’s and Jeter’s deserve a first rate playing field and this project will make that happen”.
Phase I will correct the drainage problems at the field and Phase II will rebuild the ball field, provide new benches, reconstruct the infield and outfield, the fencing, backstops, bleacher area and fountains.   Work will occur without disturbing the baseball field or interrupting the season
"The NRBL is delighted with the 2-phase project for the complete renovation and restoration of Sid Augarten Field, said John Ward, president of North Riverdale Little League.  “None of this would have been possible without the ongoing efforts of Borough President Adolfo Carrion and Councilman Oliver Koppell. Hopefully, for the 2010 season we will have a safe, beautiful new ball field for the almost 500 children who play at Sid Field each week”.
