BRONX BOROUGH PRESIDENT CARRION CELEBRATES THE LUNAR NEW YEAR

Honors Asian Leaders throughout New York City

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión, along with The Chinese-American Culture & Art Association & the Bronx Asian-American Economic Development Corporation celebrated Lunar New Year 2008, with a special awards event where traditional music, dance and food got together to welcome the year of the rat.
Borough President Carrion honored Assistant Principal of Bronx High School of Science, Ms. Shun Fang Chang; Leaders of The Buddhist Association of the U.S, Reverend Guna Chen and Reverend Shiu Chih; and President of Crystal Window & Door System, Mr. Thomas Chen. A citation of excellence was presented to the Korean American Small Business Service Center of New York.
More than 200 residents enjoyed Asian cuisine and traditional performances by Chinatown’s Chinese American Planning Council Choir and Martial Arts Performances and a traditional Dragon Dance by Yeh Yung Kong Martial Arts School.
 “Our Lunar New Year Celebration brings people from throughout the entire city and it gives the Bronx the opportunity to showcase the thriving Asian American Community we have in our borough which keeps growing each day,” Borough President Carrión said.
