CARRION TOURS CHINA AND INDIA
—Tells the Bronx Story
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion will be in Beijing, China from July 29 through August 1, and in New Dehli, India from August 2 through August 4. He will meet with government officials, business leaders and diplomats from both countries and tour several cultural and historical sites in the region, including the Taj Mahal.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to tell the Bronx story. The Bronx is truly an American comeback story,” stated Carrion. “People can learn from our turnaround and from our successes. We have come so far in such a short period of time.”
Carrion recently released a report that shows that the Bronx continues to experience unprecedented economic growth. Just last month alone almost $500 million dollars was invested in residential and commercial development. This money represents 118 news addresses in the Bronx. The Bronx has now reached approximately one billion dollars invested in the last 6 months alone.
“Through the power of smart investment and strong growth we have helped change the story of Bronx, “stated Borough President Adolfo Carrion. “These developments represent jobs for the entire Bronx and as I have said for years the best social program is a job.”
Carrion is one of 24 public officials, including 12 Republicans and 12 Democrats from across the country selected for the Aspen-Rodel Fellowship following an eight-month search involving input from more than 1,400 business, political, and civic leaders.
The Aspen Institute, founded in 1950, is an international nonprofit dedicated to fostering enlightened leadership and open-minded dialogue.
