Bronx Borough President Invited as Keynote Speaker at annual Dominican American National Roundtable Conference

Borough President Adolfo Carrion speaks on Latino Coalitions at the ninth
annual DANR Conference
(Atlantic City, New Jersey) –Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión Jr. received a warm welcome and a standing ovation from Dominican professionals, students and elected officials. As keynote speaker of the ninth annual Dominican American National Roundtable conference, Carrión spoke on “Coalitions: The Genesis of Community Empowerment” in the Atlantic City Convention Center.
“We have to acknowledge the visionaries that put this together nine years ago and said ‘We have a dream and a vision. Our people are growing and they have to be part of the American enterprise,’” said Carrión. “We have a lot of work to do. Despite all of the injustices like unemployment, housing and school drop out rates, there’s still a shining light of promise and the DANR plays a critical role in that story. We have to restore our relations with the Caribbean, Central and South America and the economy of those countries- our homelands. Inter-American and global politics will be defined by Latin Americans in the United Sates who are going to influence the future of this great nation.”
United States Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral and State Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat both spoke before the Bronx Borough President.
The Dominican American National Roundtable is a non-partisan Washington, D.C. based organization that advocates for the empowerment of Dominicans in the United States and Puerto Rico. The DANR is the first and only national organization advocating on behalf of the over one million Dominican Americans in areas concerning education, health, economic development, immigration, and civic empowerment at the national level.
