BRONX BORO PRESIDENT CARRION ADDRESSES INCOMING BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENTS

Adolfo Carrión talks to Berkeley College students today about Access, Adversity and Success
(New York, NY) – In light of Hispanic Heritage Month in September, Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión addressed more than 400 incoming Berkeley College students at Town Hall about what equal access to higher education means -- and the responsibilities, challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for the new students, their families and their communities.
“You have to ask yourself: ‘Why am I here?’ because that answers your everyday actions. How dedicated you are depends on your answer,” said Carrión.
“Sometimes you might fail, but the glory in success is rising from failure. If you stay focused you will succeed. And you need to take risks to succeed.”
Bronx Borough President Carrión was introduced by Berkeley College President Dr. Mildred García, one of only a handful of female Latina college presidents in the United States.
