My friends and neighbors welcome to my first State of the Borough Address as the 12th President of this great place we call The Bronx. As I begin, I would like to recognize some of my colleagues who are with us today. Thank you also to the religious, civic and business leaders who are here today. It’s important that we gather as a community to do this.

I want to thank the members of my transition team who gave of their time and their best thinking to help formulate some of the priorities you’ll hear about today. Thank you to my staff, which has worked tirelessly to put a new shop together and fulfill all the obligations of my office to the people of our great borough. And thank you to former Borough President Freddy Ferrer for his assistance and counsel during this transition, and for his great work over the past 14 years. As many of you know, I am a father of four and a husband to a wonderful lady, Linda Baldwin. I would also like to publicly thank her and my children for supporting my commitment to public service...
