Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has endorsed Edwin Mejia Jr. for appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of BronxNet, the borough’s public television station.

“Edwin Mejia Jr. has a wealth of knowledge about in-house television productions, co-productions and managing worldwide theatrical distribution. Mr. Mejia produces content that uplifts, and showcases meaningful human experiences in film, TV, sports, fashion and digital media, and I know that his talents will help guide the mission of BronxNet in meaningful ways. I look forward to working with Edwin Mejia Jr. and everyone at BronxNet as we continue to document the positive changes we are seeing in The Bronx,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

Edwin Mejia Jr. co-founded The Vladar Company in 2008, where he has served as the lead producer on all The Vladar Company films. His most recent project was the fashion film biopic, “Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer,” which he worked alongside producer Matt Kapp (“Valentino: The Last Emperor”) and Italian fashion house, Moschino, which was based on the iconic fashion designer and featured appearances by Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, A$AP Rocky and Rita Ora.

Mr. Mejia has also worked with Netflix, negotiating rights for content acquisition for the digital network, as well as worked as an executive producer for the “Mr. Olympia Show” in Las Vegas, on behalf of American Media Inc. The collaboration led to the launch of the Generation Iron Fitness Network, where he established partnerships with leading fitness and sports nutrition brands to integrate their products seamlessly into short- and long-form content.

Most recently, he produced “The Hurt Business,” alongside Jim Czarnecki (“Bowling for Columbine,” “Fahrenheit 9/11”), starring former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) titleholders Rhonda Rousey, Holly Holm, Jon Jones, and narrated by Kevin Costner.  He executed a theatrical campaign alongside AMC, Regal, Cinemark and Cineplex, which opened the movie in over 400 cinemas in the United States and Canada.    

Prior to partnering with Vlad Yudin, Mr. Mejia spent over six years working in Wall Street, doing finance for companies such Lehman Brothers, Smith Barney and Fidelity Investments.  During his six-year tenure in finance, he managed approximately $4 billion of commercial real estate holdings, the funding of warehouse lending lines of credit for Lehman Brothers, and managed a portfolio of over 700 private and institutional accounts at Smith Barney.

Mejia was born in The Bronx and grew up on Fox Street. He is also a graduate of Pace University.

BronxNet is the independent not-for-profit organization serving the people of The Bronx through the provision of media production training, access to technology, and cable television channels. BronxNet’s ultra-local programming helps connect The Bronx with the world, while their training programs and partnerships are a part of community development.

Mr. Mejia will join BronxNet’s other distinguished board members, including Hon. Judge Douglas McKeon,  Kenneth Knuckles, John Collazzi, Nick Lugo, Myrna Rivera, Michael Heller, Jean Hodge, Madaha Kinsey-Lamb and Peter Joseph.
