On Thursday, March 12, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted his annual Irish Heritage & Culture Celebration at the Rambling House in Woodlawn. This year’s honorees included Patricia Lynch, Government/Media Strategist; Joseph McDermott, Executive Director of the Consortium for Workers Education; and Aedin Moloney, Artistic Director of The Fallen Angel Theatre Company.

“Here in the Woodlawn section of The Bronx we have a large Irish American community, and Irish Americans have been one of  New York’s most significant ethnic groups since the late 19th century. It is with great pleasure that we are honoring some of the leading Irish Americans in our city during this wonderful celebration,” said Borough President Diaz.

“I want to say that I am so excited to be here and this is truly a pleasure. I am proud to be honored during Irish Heritage by my good friend, Borough President Diaz,” said Patricia Lynch.

“I have never been recognized for my heritage before. I am proud of my heritage, and proud of this honor,” said Mr. McDermott as he accepted the recognition and spoke to the guests.

“Me, yes me. I am being honored and I never thought that this would be possible. I am thankful that the Borough President is giving me this recognition,” said Aedin Moloney, Artistic Director of The Fallen Angel Theatre Company.

The Rambling House was also recognized for their contribution to the Irish Heritage celebration. Bob Nolan accepted the award seeing that he played a key role in assisting in the planning process of the event.

The event was sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and The North Bronx Healthcare Network.
