“Today, the City Council stood up for the rights of the people of this City. ‘Stop, question & frisk’ can be an effective tool for fighting crime, but not in the way it is currently constituted. Our communities must be able to trust the police department, and current policies do not engender that necessary trust. The relationship between the police and the citizenry must be based on respect and a mutual concern for safety, and I support the City Council in their override of this veto,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
