Bronx Pale Ale to be Poured During First Annual Bronx Restaurant Week

New York, Oct 28 — The Bronx Brewery, the newest craft brewery to come out of New York City, has announced its participation in Savor the Bronx!, the first annual Bronx Restaurant Week. The Bronx Brewery co-founders, general manager Chris Gallant and head brewer Damian Brown have teamed up with two Bronx restaurants to create food and beer pairings for the Bronx foodie crowd.

In the first of two events, on Wednesday, November 2, The Bronx Brewery team heads to Throgs Neck for a pizza and beer pairing menu at Tosca Café. Specialty pizzas baked in Tosca’s classic coal oven – one of just a handful of such ovens left in New York City – will be matched with the unique flavors of the Bronx Pale Ale to create a true Bronx match. We are excited about pairing up with a local brewery for this special event to show Bronxites that they don’t need to leave the borough to get the best pizza and beer,” says Tosca’s manager Melissa Liebman. The team will be pouring from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM in the rooftop garden. Tosca is located at 4038 East Tremont Avenue at Miles Avenue.

The following week, on Tuesday, November 8, The Bronx Brewery team will be at the Bronx Ale House in Kingsbridge. Starting at 6:00 PM, Brown will lead patrons through a traditional beer tasting, while Bronx Ale House chefs serve up charcuterie and cheese plates to complement the Bronx Pale Ale. James Langstine, owner of the Bronx Ale House notes “we’re keeping it local for Bronx Restaurant Week and are excited to be creating a menu specifically for the Bronx Pale Ale.” Bronx Ale House is located at 216 West 238th Street.

“We’re delighted to welcome The Bronx Brewery to the Savor The Bronx! Restaurant Week celebration,” says Doris Quinones, Executive Director of the Bronx Tourism Council. “Savor The Bronx! is a great opportunity for visitors and locals to enjoy new culinary experiences of all sorts, and The Bronx Brewery’s partnership with several Bronx restaurants offers everyone a chance to discover a new Bronx-inspired product they may not have known about.”

The Bronx Brewery recently launched the Bronx Pale Ale, their first beer. “We’ve worked hard over the past year to get our recipe right,” says Gallant. “Now that it is, we’re excited to be part of what we hope will be a long-standing Bronx tradition. We’re proud to be the official brewery for Savor the Bronx!.”

The Bronx Pale Ale, developed and brewed by Brown, is a deep amber, American-style pale ale that is brewed with five different barley malts, generous additions of Cascade and Centennial hops and a unique strain of yeast. It is dry-hopped, unfiltered and unpasteurized.

“What really distinguishes the beer is its freshness and balance of hop character with a complex blend of caramel, biscuit and nutty malt flavors,” says Brown. “Its hop contribution is focused on aroma, flavor and enjoyable bitterness rather than the extreme and unbalanced bitterness found in many American pale ales and IPAs. Because of its balance the Bronx Pale Ale pairs extremely well with a wide range of cuisines. I’m very excited for people to enjoy the pairings at Tosca and Bronx Ale House.”

The Bronx Brewery was founded by a small team with two things in common: a maniacal focus on creating high-quality beer and a passion for the Bronx. Its traditionally-crafted ales use only premium and minimally-processed materials to create fresh, bold beer from a borough known for its own uniquely bold character. The team is enthused to bring a rich brewing tradition back to the Bronx and craft a beer that the people of the Bronx and New York City can be proud to call their own.

Bronx Pale Ale is currently available in a growing number of bars and restaurants in the Bronx and Manhattan, with plans for expansion in Brooklyn and Queens by early 2012.  More information on where to find the Bronx Pale Ale can be found at www.thebronxbrewery.com.
